A Geeky Confessional

Taking a break from my New Mutant love I figured I'd confess you to you my faithful reads about some of my darkest secrets (okay, they're not really that dark or that much of a secret, lol). But, I feel the need to make a confessional of some of my nerdy likes. Since, I don't really go into this stuff all that much I figured I'd let my guard down and share this stuff with all ya.

I still love Spiderman and his Amazing Friends. I don't know what it is about this show. But, something about it just hits all my geek buttons. Maybe its something about the joys and wonder of childhood and my memories of sitting in front of the TV as a young lad and watching the adventures of Pete, Bobby and Angelica or maybe its just that this was just an awesome show that has stood the test of time alot better than the shows it competed against back in the day. Who knows.

I enjoy collecting lots of GL paraphernalia. From Green Lantern rings and shirts and my Green Lantern jacket. It probably doesn't hurt that my favorite color is green and sadly, I am still waiting for them to make a GL bowling shirt.

My New Mutant love. Since I have made a few posts on this one. I won't go into much detail other than I really dig this book.

Jubilee! If you have read this blog with any regularity it will become apparent that I am a bit fixated on Ms. Jubilation Lee. It all started as a lad when I purchased the X-Men's Atlantis Attacks Annual which featured a short Jubilee story in one of her first appearances and ever since then. I have been smitten.

Since, i don't want to give away all of my geeky secrets I think I'll leave it at this before I depress myself and must get drunk until this shame no longer saddens me.
Good night and good luck :P

Villains Week: Dr. Doom

Continuing with this weeks theme of awesome villains. I thought today I would talk about my favorite marvel villain...

Dr. Victor Von Doom

Dr. Doom: Pimp

That's right Dr.Doom. Right off the bat his has one of the coolest names ever and honestly with the surname of Von Doom did he really have a choice in whether to become a bad guy,I think not. He also has such an awesome character George Lucas had to steal his costume design in order to make Darth Vader the baddest m*****f****r in the galaxy. Of course, he started out as the Fantastic Four's chief villain. Since, then though he has become a pain in the neck for pretty much all of the heroes in the Marvel universe. My favorites stories with him are him fighting Spider-man and the X-Men rather than the FF. Though, I also enjoy his hatred of Dr. Richards (whom he blames for everything including bad weather and the Mets losing). Doom is just plain awesome. From the intonation his given in the books to his misanthropic nature. best of all the guy is a king (which gives him diplomatic immunity, here in the states). He's a sorcerer and a scientist and most of all he is... DOOM!

Lady Blackhawk - Hawkah!

Today I thought I'd talk about a character that I didn't really know about until I started reading Birds of Prey and that character is... Ms. Zinda Blake AKA Lady Blackhawk. I love Zinda! And really what's not to love she's a pilot, she likes drinking and fighting and, best of all she wears a skirt. I'm a big fan and proponent of girls wearing skirts. Thanks to Gail Simone and the writers who followed her on the Birds of Prey. She's become one of favorite female characters. One of the things most of them have been able to do (at least how I read the books) is keep that old timey cadence of hers. Whenever I'm reading BoP she sounds (in my head, anyways) like she was plucked from a movie from the 40s. Which just adds to her awesomeness and sexiness. She's tough enough to knock out Spy Smasher without losing her femininity. Zinda is a lady through and through, but at the same time I would not doubt that she could out drink almost anyone in the DCU. Another thing that amuses me is that in my mind she could totally take out Dick and Tim, in her skirt without flashing anything naughty. 'cuz she's just that cool. Plus, I maintain that she and Ted Grant (Wildcat) are drinking buddies that like to talk about the good old days and arm wrestle.

What Would Guy Gardner Do?

I'm still not completely done finding everything for the post I promised last week. Hopefully, I'll have everything for it in the next couple of days.
So, whenever I'm in a jam or don't know what decision to make. I remember this phrase: What Would Guy Gardner Do? as soon as I know the answer to this question I usually do the opposite. Not that Guy isn't awesome, but I'm not that good of a fighter and don't really wanna get knocked out. Not that that has ever stopped Guy. Case in point:
Photobucket
However there are those occasions in which What Guy would do is the right answer, like here:
Photobucket
Even though most of the time Guy's answer is the wrong one, every once in awhile he offers the best solution to a problem. Now, if only I could get a wrist band with this question printed on it I would be set, lol.

Guy Gardner: The Brave and The Bold

Okay admittedly I'm abit biased when it comes to the GLC. But, even so I have actually been enjoying the last few week of Batman: the Brave and the Bold. At first I was prejudiced and thought it would never be even close to as good as the DCAU stuff Paul Dini and Bruce Timm did. Now I may have to retink that since this weeks episode looks... Swwwweeeeeeet!
But, don't just take my word for it, check out this clip I got from CBR.

Now tell me that doesn't look like this weeks episode is going to be at least three shades of awesomeness.

Jay's X-Men Team

On Friday I listed what I think would be the best Justice League team ever. So, to start off the week I thought it would be a hoot to list off the best X-Men team. Plus I didn't want it to seem like I only read DC since I have been doing a lot of posts on the Distinguished Competition. So, without further adieu. Here's my X-Men team:

Multiple Man (Jamie Madrox) ~ Besides the fact that he can be his own task force. The last couple of years of X-Factor has shown him grow as a leader and I think he would rock leading the X-Men.
Nightcrawler ~ You really can't have a proper X-Men team without him plus with his teleportation powers he can always get you out of a plot quickly.
Wolverine~ Again it's not really an X-Men team without him.
Colossus ~ Since, you need a heavy hitter and there is no heavier hitter than the mighty Colossus he's on the team.
Wolfsbane (Rahne Sinclair) ~ I always thought she was the New Mutant most deserving of a spot on the team. So, I'm drafting her.
Jubilee ~ Pure nepotism. I love Jubes and it's my team so there :P
Rogue ~ Just because it would be so cool I would give her back Ms. Marvel's powers so she can fly and punch tanks.
Gambit ~ Since, Rogue's on the team he kind of has to be there. Plus a guy that makes things explode is always cool.
Iceman ~ Just for the old school factor and the fact that I'm a big fan of Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends.
Beast ~ 'Cuz brainy scientist guy is a must on any team.
Siryn ~ Since I need another flyer and her dad hasn't been brought back to life, yet. She's on the team. Also, I'm a big fan of all the drama that comes from her and Jamie's past and present, lol.

Well, there you go that's my X-tremely Awesome X-team (sorry, I just couldn't help using a pun that made the books what they are today, lol).

Jay Casts the Justice League International Movie

Since this is my favorite version of the Justice League. I thought it would be fun to share with my readers (all two of you) who I would pick to play these characters.
Batman ~ Christian Bale. This is a no brainer.
Blue Beetle ~ Ryan Reynolds, he would be perfect as the wisecracking Ted Kord.
Martian Manhunter ~ Kieth David, he has the perfect voice to pull off what would essentually be a CGI character.
Booster Gold ~ Neil Patrick Harris, he's pretty much playing this character already on How I Met Your Mother (minus the super powers, of course).
Fire ~ Paz Vega, This one is kinda hard 'cuz I don't know how she would look with Fire's green hair. Other than that though, I think this would be a good fit.
Ice ~ Kristen Bell, She has both the innocent look and inner strength that are the hardest pieces of Ice to play.
Mr. Miracle ~ Steve Carell, after his turn as Maxwell Smart. I think he would be perfect as the world's greatest excape artist.
Big Barda ~ Lucy Lawless. How could you go with anyone but Xena, to play Barda.
Captian Atom ~ George Eads, He already did a great job of playing him on the JLU cartoon and since the character would most like be CGI it wouldn't be that much of a change.
Rocket Red ~ Daniel London, He seemed pretty good at being clueless and faking a russian accent in Big Trouble and those are the main ingredients to play this character. so...
Guy Gardner ~ Scott Caan, okay I had to change this one because like I said he's the hardest one to cast. But, thinking it over I think he'd make a much better Guy than Jason Bateman.
Maxwell Lord ~ Thomas Gibson, He could play this part in his sleep.well, there you go.
My choices for the people to be in the Justice League International movie.
